Bruce Mundhenke- A Poem

The News

I find it very strange,
And I am quite amazed,
About the lack of news,
In the information age.

The news is all about the election,
Twenty four hours a day,
And endless coverage of candidates,
Who have not a thing to say.

Earthquakes, wars, and famines,
Floods, droughts, and hurricanes,
Even nature protests,
The earth has gone astray.

Choosing sides and changing sides,
Betrayal every day,
Deceptions, lies, and bribes,
Twas ever thus, they say...

They try to hold things together,
But they have had their day,
The shaking that is yet to come
Already on the way.

There is a lust for power
That some will never know,
For this blessing we are thankful,
Though they think us weak and slow.

Bruce Mundhenke lives in Illinois with his wife and their dog and cat. He has worked as a laborer and a registered nurse.
