Virginie Colline, a French Translator from Paris, is a memorable part of The Scarlet Sound family and our Story this month. Her work is exemplary of our personality with her art combining multiple mediums with her illustrated poems. When asked about her work and her inspiration, she responded with but a few words relying on her poetry to say the rest.
"I’m very bad at talking about myself. Poetry is the only way I know how to do so with accuracy. That’s why I wrote this little haiku and coupled it with "Clear Acid Blue", a beautiful picture by the Californian painter Mark Erickson, whose artwork is most inspiring.
What is art? Art is where the heart is.”
We have talked with Virginie every time she has submitted her work, fascinated by her artistic process. She once explained to us that it is never the same for her. She doesn’t choose a visual piece and write to it every time; she doesn’t couple a visual piece with her poetry every time. It’s an organic process, and we love it!
Be sure to check out other pieces of Virginie’s that we have here at The Scarlet Sound!
