Douglas Polk- Two Poems

Comfortable

America and Russia at odds,
reassuring,
the villains once again foreign,
instead of the neighbor next door.

Presto

a jet liner disappears,
a bad magician's trick,
where the NSA when we need it,
stalking people,
instead of planes,
while politicians stutter,
and wring their hands,
terrorists laugh in the street.
