Ananya S. Guha- A Poem

"Riverines of sorrow"

riverines of sorrow
you are my sadness
the river muddy
trampled by dirt
gods and goddesses
float, imprints of dust
riverine of my sorrow
every winter we would
travel, stone by stone
on your unrelenting body
wading through waters
for a game of cricket
as trees sidled up to
hills overlooking your
cold waters, now wallowing
in the filth of men.
riverines of sorrow
my look mirrors
your image.
