Richard Schnap- A Poem

DRESS REHEARSAL

I have learned
The scripted lines
Inscribed by
A dead man’s hand

And I have worn
The costume of white
That banishes
Every shadow

For soon the play
Will open its doors
As the curtain
Begins to rise

Where I will face
An audience of ghosts
That will magically
Return to life
