Jennifer Lagier- A Poem & Photo

Diffusion

Monochrome morning etches cypress fronds
against tinny horizon, silvery dunes.

Ascending mist hijacks the eye,
swaddles sun within translucent scrim.

Ragged shoreline lacerates surf swell.
Harbor seals drag themselves onto high ground.

Here and there, patrolling pelicans reconnoiter
seething schools of abundant anchovies.

I wander, pulled by muted radiance,
warming earth, a burning planet’s bronze trail.
