Michael McInnis- Two Poems

666

as if problems
enough

tattoo of
666

across my forehead
not helping

winter sun always
in my eyes

Leaving the 21st Century

leaving the
21st Century

intermingled
with each other’s
flesh

shot through
nails
screws
pieces of rock
shards of glass
broken marbles

an instant of
knowledge, a
collective gasp
something to
represent
shared insight

a new language
of pain
syntax and
vocabulary
dialect and
a grainy accent

a single light
clamped to
a transom

leaving the
21st Century

Bio: Michael McInnis lives in Boston and spent six years in the Navy sailing across the Pacific and Indian Oceans to the Persian Gulf three times, chasing white whales and ended up only with madness.
