Richard Schnap- A Poem

SYLLABUS

First you must learn sense
To understand the difference
Between knowing when to speak
And when to remain silent

Then you must learn faith
To believe there is a purpose
In the brilliant sun shining
While a steady rain falls down

Next you must learn love
To comprehend its roses
Seducing you with their perfume
As their thorns impale your heart

And last you must learn death
The exit cloaked in shadow
Where maybe you’ll find angels
Waiting to welcome you home
