Douglas Polk- Three Poems

Depressed

the bottle empty,
the day depressed,
debating whether,
I should even get dressed,
the economy crashed,
along with my love life,
no money for whiskey,
such is life,
in the middle of a depression,
I mean recession.

Warren's Truth

the government against the individual,
protecting the people,
you didn't build that,
ideology,
kumbaya my friends,
kumbaya,
ideology builds to destroy,
ideology friends,
the greatest killer of all,
killing idiots and intelligentsia alike,
along with their dreams,
makes no difference as long as the thirst for money,
quenched.

History

history rewritten,
manipulated like an interest rate,
solely for personal gain,
Jefferson, Lincoln, Reagan,
or Clinton,
actions analysed and misstated to meet a need,
support a view,
history a whore,
willing to sleep with anyone as long as the price is right.
