Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal- Two Poems

I was becoming a butterfly
one spring morning.
My hand became a wing.

I flew to a tree.
I flew toward the peak
and I kept going higher
with a single wing
into the sun.
By the time I reached
the sun I felt defeated.
I was on empty.

One spring morning
I ached for night.
I was the worm
that dies in a bird’s mouth.
Leave the door open.
Rachel will come
in her skimpy clothes
and glazed stare.

Rachel will make all
your troubles go away.
She will come through
your door and love you.

Rachel will disappear
in the morning
like a ghost.  She will
make you feel good.
