NIGHT HYMN
Our Dad Who art in darkness, holy be Thy name:
Your love falls from the skies to feed the crops with rain,
yet prove You are the Force that never will be tamed
with winds that topple trees, outhoot the lonely train,
and reckless lightning puts the arms of men to shame.
You made the moon beneath which maid kisses her swain
and set the stars and planets within their grand frame
of time and space and relativity’s strange chains.
You watch us as a mother at the hearth’s quiet flames
observes the sickly babe, her face tautened with strain,
yet will not rest. Let all praise Him beyond all fame
Who gives shadows for love and sleep to ease our pain.

A very interesting poem. Enjoyed reading it.

ReplyDeletefine interpretive aesthetic vision of a stylistic mastery of a religious imagery.
