Brittany Zedalis- Two Poems

I feel you
here, lingering
by my side, for
all these years.

Skeptics, they
don't know, they
don't understand,
but you're here.

I keep your
blanket, your
toys, and your
little stuffed bear.

If only you were here,
you'd be eighteen this year.

Save Me

Those deep hazel
eyes, pull me in
like the ocean,
and I sink.

As though I
am in space,
the air escapes
from my lungs.

I cling to
every word you
speak, my hands
shaking but strong.

Those words like
armor, protective
and unbreakable,
they save me.
