J. J. Campbell- Two Poems

something to make me whole

alone on this
mountain

desperate to
find something
to make me
whole

as she tucks
the cash away
in her purse
and slowly
walks away

shaking what
little ass she
has

emptiness swells
inside of me like
a bomb getting
ready to blow

i kissed her
hand goodbye
and slammed
the door shut

no one needs to
see the outburst
that is getting
ready to explode
in here

who says rock
stars are the only
ones that get to
trash hotel rooms

the promise of a better tomorrow

headed to the
ocean to see
the promise
of a better
tomorrow

i laugh and
tell her to
watch out
for used
needles on
the beach

i do
appreciate
the naive
ones and
the joy they
believe still
exists in
this world

but it's simply
not enough
to move these
cynical bones
to the point
of giving
a shit

  2. Brilliant as always. J.J is one of the best american poets. Certainly the most blood honest one.
