Hyphenated Grace

My hand's a living prayer. Ink on one fingertip, indelibly stained, reflects the night. A perfect point of honesty, mirrored by a grainy crescent of false purity, of tentative confession, of simulated disclosure in its inseparably tethered partner. Between them lies a shaking leg, a beating heart, bathrobe tattered by the shadow of decades.

The mystery of life, held in the balancing act of mimed surface, of facing fact dimly perceived, spinning songs to daily poverty in unfaced ruins, overrun by human detritus, reading headlines into soft yet durable imminence.

Somehow revolution proceeds in vast palatial quandaries, solidifying logic’s touchstone. Among us, its course is fixed for now in serpentine volition’s stirring glance. The tension builds and breaks on schedule, reciprocal in counterpoint.

Refrigerator hum echoes electronica in harmony of mechanized procession. Now a night light volunteers as if on cue in coinciding skeleton of miracle accepted gratis, penultimate to hyphenated grace.

  1. Prose poem moves in a confessional power of grace in a
    proliferating of images of touchstones.
