SUMMATION
Every time someone dies
A flower closes its petals
A bird in a tree is silenced
A star in the sky goes dark
As the wind whispers a requiem
And the rain mournfully weeps
While the sun’s light grows dimmer
Like a candle at the end of its wick
But death is the great equalizer
That comes to take all without fail
Whether they are a rich monarch
Or a pauper who begs for his meals
And it makes the world more beautiful
Knowing that our time here is brief
So do not speak curses at one’s leaving
Bestow it with blessings instead
