Robert Demaree- Three Tanka Pieces

In The Doorway

Equipment picked up,
Oxygen tanks not needed,
Electric wheelchair.
She tarries in the doorway,
First days of a widowhood.

Moving On

In the parking lot
His son, also old, bald, gray,
Loads the pick-up truck,
Life’s furniture remaindered,
Bound for Assisted Living.

August 2010

Couple paddling by,
Canoe caught in golden glint,
Cool August evening.
Without other evidence
He assumes they are in love.
