J.J. Campbell- A Poem

insomnia

a late summer
haze slowly
draining
everything
of all life

i watch the
cats spread
out on the
concrete and
just fall asleep

i laugh and think
that's not a bad
idea but these old
knees have no
chance of getting
back up from that
concrete

i go inside and
turn on the fan

i haven't slept
well in days

you'd think i
would simply
pass out by
now

amazing how
sometimes
insomnia has
different
plans
