Dawnell Harrison- Two Poems

The human stain

I lie miserable in my human stain
that I leave like a fingerprint.

My soul floats along the stark
void in the sky as I dream

of a better place,
a better time.

White wall

I should lie down and
breathe as quiet as

a white wall.
I am gone -

my hands lie upwards
toward the sky and

I am a translucent white
like a bone.

I am attended by red roses
and pink carnations -

they smile and smile as I
simply drift upwards
toward the sky.
