Breathe, Quietly
…and there you walk.
Un-hiccupping all the way.
Strangling reason,
wishing away right now
for a lost tomorrow.
But you can’t
taxidermy a love
which I still breath, quietly.

Victims Of Vanity
The cell block runs in a circle,
back to back
yet each one is convinced
that they are the only one there.
Sitting uniformly
at the little chair and desk
with a prison vanity mirror
poised just so.
Absorbing only fruit
and anorexic lettuce leaves.
Plucking with martyred
craftsmanship
their sculptured eyebrows
to counteract
the narcissistic ugliness
windowed squirmingly below.
They adore themselves
from self placed pedestals
with ‘I’d Fuck Me!’
film quotes
dancing tantalizingly along
perfectly pouting,
self absorbed lips.
Working daily
upon their masterpiece,
they live and breathe
so idiot perfection can exist.

Circus Of Sorrow
This soulless business is buckling him,
conveyor belt of dull routine
and ‘going through the motion’ nonsense.
Heart an empty ice bucket,
upon its side, unseen and unwanted,
within some long dead grass,
at the edge of an untended field,
somewhere within the borderlands of nowhere.
A juggler without enthusiasm
is a depressing thing to watch,
the flowers of wonder and curiosity
wilt within you as you walk away in half-light
feeling mugged of something colourful
and painfully important.
There’s a suicide somewhere
I can smell its simplicity
and that is not the lions I hear roaring over there.
The hall of mirrors broods impatiently
waiting to drive you to distraction
with a vast and unpleasant catalogue
of unnecessary shameful half-truths,
almost too much for someone so fragile to bare.
