Jonathan Beale- A Poem

Song

From those Elysian Fields

Run, run away
            From those Elysian Fields

Run, run away
            To your home that yields
To a corned cat in a dark alley
Next to the Egyptian Queen
Whose beauty is callous and obscene?
Be warned. Stay away. Do not dally

Do not dally with the cold blue night
Cast, cast the line across the sky
Come with and lay before we die
Take my hand before the flight

Run, run away
            From those Elysian Fields

Run, run away
            To your home that yields

Run, run away
            To your home that yields

                        Into the forest
                                    Into the night
                        The Jerusalem tree
                        That holds you to me

                                    Into this wonderful sight
If you can
            If you can
                        Can...Can…
                                    Be blest
                                                Be blest

Pausing in the evening
Here between the wolf and the dog
Here between my passion and your absence

So what can become
The rolling under the moon
Among the wheat fields
I strode to break down your shields
That dawn your moon is too soon

And you
                        And you
                                    You have
Become
                        Become
                                    Be—come—
                                                Be-------come-----
                                                                        One
                                                                                    One
                                                                                                One

Come back to Elysian
            Back to those fields
            Back to those fields
                        Back to Elysian
                                    Back, back
Pausing in the evening
Here between the wolf and the dog
Here between my passion and your absence

Ba ba back ----------to Elysian
                                                Back to
                                                            Back to Elysian
