Flashbacks
I close my eyes...
And I'm eight years old
again, with you by my
side, while we stroll
by the ocean late one
night.
I'm twelve years old
again, with your
constant reassurance that
high school would be
okay.
I'm eighteen years old
again, hearing of your
dizziness and your
brain tumor with no
cure.
I'm twenty one years old
now, kneeling by your
grave, hoping to have
been the daughter you
deserved.
