Terror laws
Holy war
Negative consequences
Deportation

“They must know,”
the scientist said,
“Something we don’t.”

Collateral damage
No mercy.

Cold war
The wrong taxi
Feedback loop
Insider trading
Woes persist
New limits
Spring crushed
Substance banned
Hostile action

“The situation is grim,”
the coordinator said.
“It goes on for a very long time.”

No food
Choke point.

  1. I have recently read a fair amount of Russell Streur's work in one of his books that I found at http://poetsdemocracy.com/bookshop.html. These poems, however, strike me as starkly different in content and style than those poems. More importantly, perhaps, these poems demonstrate that it is possible through poetry to comment on the vagaries of contemporary society without bombast or four-letter words. Hell, I've got nothing against four-letter words but I always flinch when I see one in a poem. But, shit, that's my problem, isn't it.
