Heather Gelb- A Poem

Buried Love

By the side of the dirt path
Up a narrow incline,
Beneath bare branches
Of the fig tree,
Lies freshly turned ground
Covered by a small pile of rocks,
A reminder of the love
That a girl buried
Among layers of earth and memories.

Once a tiny, warm body
Housing a loyal friend,
So much more than whiskers and
Glowing eyes that could frame the constellations of
A bond that transcends
Star bursts of life.

In a  quiet spot
By the side of a dirt path,
A bit  of love hovers nearby,
Clinging to bare branches and
Gently placed rocks.

Brief Bio: I often feel like a gazelle as I leap from hilltop to hilltop. On one of these hills I recently published my memoir, my spiritual journey from the hills of one land to another:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1937623076?keywords=hilltop&qid=1444211722&ref_=sr_1_5&sr=8-5

One of my poems based on this book will be featured in the fall edition of Poetica Magazine.
I have also published stories and poetry in Green Press Panda, Deronda Review. Stepping Stones and Esra Magazine.
