J. K. Durick- Three Poems

   Mood

The sunshine
Works just fine

Doesn’t need
Any help.

This light
Music

Your kind
Words

Should be
Saved

For another
Day.

Simile

A cloud is like an ambiguous remark.
It hangs there, an amorphous horizon –
As puffy, as unreliable –
With a careless will of its own,
Tugs this way, then turns itself,
Tumbles aside, does designs
As fabulous as Incas or anyone
Left to his own delight.

                 Tenses

The past perfect, in hindsight
The continuous, present continuous
The future conditional, they say –
It’s simply that way.
