Dawnell Harrison- Two Poems

Withering

Stalks of withering straw
break wearily against

a flaming watermelon sun
as a splay of speckled

turtle dove's wings rest
among the golden wheat.

Water-lidded seas

Above the water-lidded seas,
seagulls cry their desperate coughs
into the salt-dipped air.
